I recently hosted my sisters 30th birthday and rented the private room at The Fountain Spa -- also known as a Pod Party. Everything from start to finish was top notch. The room that we had was great, the massages and facials we all received were beyond relaxing, and the service from everyone we encountered was top notch. I was able to bring in my own food and decorations which helped to personalize the room and make the day that much more special for the birthday girl. The Fountain provided us with coffee, tea, OJ (for mimosas), water (still and sparkling) and paper products. All in all it was the perfect girls day to celebrate a special day!
Employee for massage, pedicure and manicure rushed through the entire appointment making my spa day not enjoyable. They got my name confused with someone else so I don’t think I got the correct spa treatment from the start. This is the first time I have been rushed so badly at a spa before. I couldn’t even drink my hot tea in the relaxation room. Also want to add the pedicure employee asked me if I wanted to use her tool to do the job myself, very unprofessional. Never again. I am an easy going person and have been to amazing spas but this was the worst experience I have ever had. I added the mug of the tea I couldn’t drink. I left more stressed than when I entered. Fountain Spa needs to observe their employees.
The spa needs a makeover. It gives 80’s vibes. I scheduled a whirlpool bath for me and my husband and was told it would be 20$ plus an extra 15 for both of us. Was charged 72$ for it. Called and they said sorry you were given the wrong price but it’s 36$ pp. would have never booked at that price. Somehow I was charged an extra 15$ for an upgrade on my massage and wasn’t aware til checkout. 72$ for a bath is ridiculous so be aware. I dropped 600+ for me and my husband and honestly wasn’t that impressed. The steam in the ladies lounge wasn’t working so I couldn’t even do a steam. Was there from 12-4 and they don’t even offer lunch anymore and my checkout experience is another review. The girl had an attitude. Honestly worst experience.
Appointment making: called in three or four times (had questions and moved appointments one time). Every interaction was disappointing. The phone clerk(s,?) sounded bored/annoyed. Made the appointment in person with someone st the front desk, same experience. The girl was curt, made no effort to sound pleasant. I was using a gift card, otherwise I would not have booked.
Check in at the front desk: Same girl who made my appointment, same attitude. Not a great start.
Greeter: Very pleasant lady greeted me, handed over the robe and sandals, and showed me around. Positive.
Whirlpool: Clean room and private. Tons of towels (though one was past it’s life expectancy). Positive.
Massage: Great experience. Therapist was very pleasant and a good listener.
Facial: Meh! Not positive but not negative. A couple of products caused a burning sensation on my skin but that’s not the therapist fault. I did say to her my skin reacts badly to a specific ingredient and nevertheless she left a recommendation for me to buy a set of products featuring that very ingredient. Not great listening.
Locker room and tranquility lounge: Mostly horrible, terrible. Only a few positives: Admittedly clean, big and clean steam room, plenty of lockers and towels. The negative: Cheap, hard toilet paper. Missing tiles from ceiling in bathroom and dressing room (had a feeling someone could peek in or some creepy crawler would fall in). FILTHY, disgusting dressing room (see pictures). Outdated furniture and decor.
Loved my massage with Jill and the steam room and showers were excellent. The woman at the hospitality desk was also wonderful.
My only complaint is there were big posters advertising treatments in the relaxation room. I know it’s a business but it felt really tacky, cheap, and not relaxing to stare at advertisements trying to upsell me when I’m already spending hundreds on a massage. Other high-end spas don’t do that, but maybe this isn’t a high end spa, after all?
I came here with my two sisters and I will never forget the service we had today. They not only gave us great mani pedis, but they knew my sister was stressed about her wedding in two days, and they went above and beyond to talk her through it and make sure she felt comfortable. Valerie in particular noticed that my sister was not happy with the manicure another place did for her, and offered to add stuff to it when it was almost time to go. She completely made my sisters day and for that we are grateful. I will never go anywhere else.
Check in and check out staff are not personable at all especially the young skinny Arabic looking one. My massage left me feeling sore instead of relaxed. Way over priced for mediocre service
It’s not as comprehensive of a spa as other places, but it’s clean and relaxing. I went to Hackensack location, got a massage and spa pedicure.
The massage was awful and a waste of money. All she did was lather an absurd amount of oil on my body in a half-hazard way which was not relaxing at all. I couldn’t wait for it to be over. I decided to add an essential oil, which I thought she would mix in to the rest of the oil. Idk what she did but it was so overpowering that I could barely breath. I think she just put some on the towel next to my head. I couldn’t wait for it to be over. I expressed by disappointment to the manager and we worked something out that made me feel better. If you get a massage there, I recommend reading the comments for a recommendation of someone specific.
The spa pedicure was amazing and I’d go back for another, just not a massage.
